Venice Airport, in cooperation with the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the Industrial Zone Authority of Porto Marghera (EZ), has promoted a project to monitor the air quality in the area around the village of Tessera and to estimate the emissions contribution made by Marco Polo Airport.
The project, entitled “Monitoring Emissions of Airport Origin”, began in June 2009. The concentrations of the principal atmospheric contaminants are monitored using a mobile monitoring unit owned by Ente Zona Industriale. The results are analysed by a research group at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.
In addition to monitoring of the principal pollutants, specific campaigns for PM2.5 and PM1 particulate are conducted periodically, again for the purpose of estimating the contribution of emissions of airport origin.
