WHAT IS VENICE CONNECTS?
Venice Connects is a new service, with high added value for the passenger, offered by Venice Airport in collaboration with DOHOP.
Venice Connects aims at providing assistance to those passengers who self-organize their itinerary with a connection at Venice Airport, making their stopover a comfortable experience and guaranteeing them the re-routing on the first available flight in case of missed connection with the departing flight.
WHY VENICE CONNECTS?
By way of example, a passenger departing from Naples (NAP) with final destination Copenhagen (CPH) cannot reach the destination with a non-stop flight, as a direct flight is not currently scheduled. The passenger must therefore opt for an itinerary that includes a stopover, composed for example by a first NAPLES - VENICE flight and a second VENICE - COPENHAGEN flight.
This type of transit is called "Self-connection", as it is independently managed by the passenger.
In the event that the passenger is in possession of two tickets of different airlines (or the same carrier in the case of low cost airlines) that have not entered into any assistance agreement in the event of a missed connection, the carriers are not obliged to honor the second ticket. This means that if the first flight is delayed, thus missing the connection with the risk of having to buy a new one, there is no of protection for the passenger.
HOW DOES VENICE CONNECTS WORK?
By booking your itinerary with the Venice Connects platform, you will be offered the easiest solutions with a stopover at Marco Polo Airport in Venice.
Once you have selected the desired connection, proceed with the purchase of tickets.
A surcharge will be added to the price of the tickets, which will guarantee re-routing on the first available flight in case of delayed flight arrival, assistance at the Venice Connects desk (a valuable help with boarding passes and hold baggage) and other benefits as the Fast Track service to Security Checks and dedicated discounts at the airport commercial areas.
